Thank you for posting this. It is very important to bring to light what a serious problem hunger is in our communities. Many people don’t realize just how important the school lunch program and programs like the homeless backpack program are to children in this country. Based on USDA statistics available at http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/slsummar.htm, just over 60 percent of children receiving school lunches last year received free or reduced lunch.
