“Determined to Rise” – Rev. Carol McKinley
One hundred years ago this month, sex as a barrier to voting in the United States was officially eliminated with the ratification of the 19th Amendment. It expanded voting rights to more people than any other single measure in American history; yet, even as it furthered gender equality, intersecting inequalities of class, race, and ethnicity remained intact. We celebrate Women’s Suffrage, even as much remains to be done.
