Teams to Serve Wider Community

When we work together, we can have a greater impact on the larger community than we can have alone. Joining (or starting) a team to serve the larger community is a great way to find others who share your values and interests while making a difference in the larger community.

For questions contact our Director of Community and Faith Development, Rev Sara Lewis, at dcfd@ouuc.org

Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression Team

The Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression Team plans and supports OUUC’s ongoing work toward racial justice, equity, and inclusion. Anyone interested in helping build a more just and welcoming world is encouraged to get involved.

Contact Rev. Sara for more information.

Community Kitchen Team

The Community Kitchen Team helps provide a welcoming meal for members of the wider Olympia community through a weekly dinner ministry at the Salvation Army. Volunteers prepare and serve salads, fruit, bread, and desserts while offering hospitality and care to those in need. Whether you can help regularly or occasionally, your participation is welcome.

Contact Meliz Maatta to learn more or join the team.

Economic Justice Team

The Economic Justice Team plans and supports advocacy, education, and action promoting economic equality. Members work together to advance fairness and opportunity in our community and beyond.

Contact Rev. Sara to learn more.

Environmental Action Team

The Environmental Action Team steers OUUC’s advocacy and action for environmental justice and sustainability. Anyone interested in caring for the earth through education, advocacy, and community engagement is welcome. Check out the online calendar for their next meeting.

Contact Wendy Steffensen to get involved. You can also find this group on OUUC Connect (Realm).

Faith in Action Alert Group

The Faith in Action Alert Group in OUUC Connect (Realm) provides a way to receive timely updates about justice-related events, advocacy opportunities, and actions aligned with OUUC’s mission and Unitarian Universalist values. Members can receive and share information about emerging opportunities to engage in faith-based action and community advocacy.

This group is hosted through OUUC Connect (Realm). Visit the Faith in Action Alert List Sign-up page to learn more. Contact Rev. Sara to join.

One Parish One Prisoner Team

The One Parish One Prisoner Team supports a friend in their return to the community after incarceration through relationship-building, advocacy, and practical assistance. The team is not accepting new members as of Summer 2026.

Contact John Tefejian for more information.

Partner Church Team

The Partner Church Team helps sustain OUUC’s more than 30-year relationship with our partner Unitarian congregation in Kissolymos, Romania. New members are always welcome. Visit the Partner church Team page to learn more.

Unity Commons Shelter Dinners Team

Unity Commons Shelter Dinners Team helps provide home-cooked meals for adults staying at the Unity Commons Shelter. Volunteers prepare a main dish and/or side dish to serve approximately 10–12 people, working together to ensure that all shelter residents receive a nourishing meal. Whether you can contribute once, occasionally, or on a regular basis, your contribution is welcome.
