Your Life, Your Story: A Memoir Writing Class
Have you ever wanted to write your memoir or leave a legacy for your loved ones? This is your chance! This six-week course includes activities and resources to help you write, share and preserve your life stories. Each week you’ll receive prompting questions to write two-pages at home on a rich theme of your life history – themes such as family, work, spirituality and forks in the road that changed your life direction. You’ll bring your writing to class the following week to share with fellow storytellers. Sharing life stories is an ideal way to find new meaning in life and put past events into perspective. No writing experience is necessary, just an openness to appreciate and share the unique life that is yours. Sign up with your family, friends, or with OUUC folks you’d like to know better. OUUC member Pam Toal is a Certified Guided Autobiography instructor.
Class Dates: Sept. 25, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 10 am – Noon at OUUC
Total value: $1,125 (9 people); $125 per person

" In 2023, I experienced Pam Toal's memoir writing class which contained no judgment and only gentle feedback to each other as we shared our very personal stories. At the age of 73, exercising my retrospective self was eye-opening and comforting....so much so, that six of us continued on our own, meeting once a month. Trusting each other with our life stories has brought us close."
