Faith in Action Suggested Actions for the Week

Faith in Action Suggested Actions for the Week of December 12th

There are always many ways to act on your UU faith values, but here are a few suggestions for this week.

Support: Check out this Chance to Support a Share the Plate Recipient Again:

PickleBall Pandemonium to support Mayday! Learn more and register here: Mayday’s Pickleball Pandemonium | The Mayday Foundation

Another chance to spread holiday joy, and also support a local black activist. The Joy and Justice Book and Toy drive is a project of Justice for Yvonne McDonald. Donate here: Joy and Justice Book and Toy Drive 2022 (givebutter.com)

Celebrate: UU The Vote is a Wrap! “Because of our collective commitment to building a multiracial democracy, this morning we wake up to new possibilities–not guarantees.”Read more here: This morning we wake up to new possibilities–not guarantees – UU the Vote

Volunteer: WEDNESDAY volunteer opportunity

M’Eliz and Sally’s Wednesday Dinner Community Kitchen (mostly OUUC) team at the Salvation Army team is looking for volunteers to expand our teams!  We cover every Wednesday except the 2nd.

Kitchen staff create the main dish and we put together veggies, salad, fruit, bread, and dessert for that night’s dinner. The Community  Kitchen is not serving meals indoors at this time, so the volunteer team assembles individual meals in containers that are handed to the clients outside. We serve 100 – 200 dinners each night.

TEAM A (cook & serve)  1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays – 3 – 6:30 pm cook and serve

TEAM B (serve only) 4th Wednesday – 4:30 – 6:30

Contact M’Eliz or Sally if you would like more information or to sign up!

Advocate:

    1. From WA Coalition for Police Accountability, a request to please reach out to your legislators and ask them to sign on to sponsor Rep. Thai’s Civil Liability bill HB 1025.
    2. Get ready for the legislative session with the Faith Action Network
      1. Thursday, January 5, 6:00-7:00 pm, online, FAN 2023 Legislative Preview, an overview of what to expect this session, and FAN’s legislative agenda. Register for the Zoom link here.
      2. Sunday, January 8, 2:00-3:00 pm, online, FAN Advocacy 101, presenting advocacy tools to use during the session. Register for the Zoom link here.
