New Groups Forming at OUUC

Christian Affinity Group Attempts to Make Sense of Life

Or, more accurately, help us find peace with being “good enough.” Together we will explore how truth, beauty, and meaning can be discovered amid the chaos of life. This small group will utilize Kate Bowler and co-author Jessica Richie book Good Enough, 40+ short spiritual reflections on how we can make sense of life. Their words celebrate kindness, honesty, and interdependence. Kate Bowler is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Everything Happens for a Reason (And Other Lies I’ve Loved). Kate, a cancer survivor, is a professor at Duke Divinity School and has a podcast. Co-leaders Eric Ness and Sally Brennand both come from a Christian background. The group will meet on the 2nd & 4th Thursday at 6:30 pm at OUUC following the Community Dinner (If the entire group wants to meet in the daytime, we will explore that once we start meeting). Please join us on September 28 at 6:30 pm for our first meeting. And, if you can’t attend on September 28 and are interested in joining us, please contact Eric Ness.

An OUUC Sangha is Forming!

Thursday, September 21, 6:30-8:00 pm. Are you someone who is interested in meditation and would like to be in the community to learn more? Are you someone who has a meditation practice and would like to be part of a sangha for connection and support? Are you wondering what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist with meditation practice?

We’d love to see you on Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 pm after the Community Dinner. Steve Baker, Curt Hill, and I will host a time for silence together, then a discussion about what and how an OUUC sangha might be. Come for the dinner and 5:30 pm, then for community and sangha building at 6:30 pm. We hope to see you there! And, if you can’t attend on September 21 and are interested in being part of an OUUC sangha, please contact Curt Hill.

Pagan UU Group

All who are interested in pagan practices and exploration of an earth or nature focused spiritual path are welcome to join our new UU Pagan group facilitated by Rev Sara Lewis. The group will meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month 7:00-8:30 pm and also for pagan sabbats. Save the dates for these September meetings: Regular monthly meeting on September 21 at 7:00 pm and Mabon potluck and ritual on September 22 at 6:30 pm. Please RSVP to Rev Sara or reach out to her for any questions or more information.
