Ginny Taylor is all about OUUC. She has been a member for more than 25 years, when she and her late husband Pete joined the congregation. She might be the unofficial ambassador for OUUC, and often you’ll find her talking with a newcomer in the commons.
Ginny has given so much of herself to the church – her time, her voice (in choir), and her friendliness to both new people and regular attendees. She loves the Thursday evening community dinners where she has the opportunity to speak with people she doesn’t know, to help them feel welcome.
I recently sat down with Ginny to learn why she is leaving a legacy or planned gift to OUUC. She shared how important this community is to her and how she “wishes that it will flourish in the future.” She appreciates the great staff, and the many ways to be involved and participate in the OUUC community. What she hopes for in the future is “fair financial support for our staff and expanded religious education programs for children.” Her vision for legacy giving is to help grow our community, and know that social justice and spiritual growth will continue to blossom.
When asked how she went about making a planned gift to support OUUC’s future, Ginny replied, “How important is OUUC in your life? What can you ‘pay forward’ to assure that it continues to enrich people’s lives and the world?” When asked how she wanted to be remembered by future OUUC generations, she replied with a smile, “I showed up!”
