“Responsiveness as a Spiritual Practice” – Janelle Durham, lay leader
As a parent educator and teacher, I often say that there is no one single right way to parent or to teach because different children need different supports to reach their fullest potential. We need to tune in to who the child is as an individual. How do we take that idea and apply it more broadly? Unitarian Universalism is well-suited to responsiveness, because we are called to see the inherent worth and dignity of each person. Responsiveness is also an integral part of being in covenant with one another. A covenant is not just a set of rules, but an understanding of how we will respond to one another and ourselves when we fall short.
