May-June Share the Plate Recipient: Homes First

Homes First understands that being a housing provider is integrally linked with issues of equity and social justice. They recognize that exclusion and displacement are woven into the history of American housing programs. Today, communities of color and under-served communities are disproportionately burdened by the adverse impacts of land use, housing accessibility, and environmental policy decisions.

Homes First supports historically disadvantaged people by providing many who have experienced generational poverty and/or discrimination with access to a home that is safe, healthy, and affordable. Currently, 33% of their clients are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). All of their housing serves households with incomes at or below 50% of the area median income (AMI) with 85% of tenants living at less than 30% of AMI.

Homes First pledges to never sell the homes in their care or flip them into the competitive housing market.

Contributions from Share the Plate will support their Tenant Services Navigator and Housing Program, which provides housing stability.

Please contribute your gifts toward local affordable housing!
