Presentation: The Fallacy of Public Safety and Mass Incarceration

by Larry Jefferson and David Trieweiler

Tuesday, August 3 at 7:00 pm
Hosted by Justice not Jails and OUUC

Larry says, “Our society has been led to believe that the gains of the Civil Rights Era closed the chapter on Slavery and Jim Crow. This presentation will show that the War on Drugs was instituted not for public safety but to criminalize black and brown people. The harms of the past have continued to present. Denying citizens of the United State of America the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Larry Jefferson is an award-winning criminal defense attorney. He was recently appointed by the Washington Supreme Court to become the new Director of Public Defense for the State of Washington.

David Trieweiler, a criminal defense attorney, is a member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is Co-Chair of its End Mass Incarceration Project.
