NAMI Thurston-Mason and Justice not Jails present a Zoom forum to educate the public about behavioral health services available in the Thurston County jail and treatment courts. These services are critical to helping people recover their lives after being involved with the justice system.

This is the second of three forums. The first forum explored how programs in Thurston County are preventing people with mental health and substance use disorders from entering the criminal justice system. Forum 1 is available for viewing at https://www.ouuc.org/justice-not-jails/. The third forum will explore community services that are available to people with behavioral health needs who are exiting the justice system.

Moderator – Carrie Hennen.

Speakers will explain their programs, accomplishments and challenges and address the impacts of recent changes in the legal system and the possibility of racial or ethnic disparities.

Lt. Stephanie Klein, Corrections Bureau, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office

Lara Toney, LMFT, CMHS, Diversion Program Manager, Olympic Health & Recovery Services

Joe Avalos, Chief Operating Officer/Administrator, Thurston Mason Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization

Sabrina Craig, Thurston County Drug Court Program Manager
